Job Summary:

The Level II Competent Registered Nurse provides clinical care for patients, collaborating with the healthcare team to improve quality of care by incorporating research and evidence-based practices. The RN assumes responsibility for comprehensive, patient-centered care for an assigned group of patients, following the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvement Practice Standards
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate nursing care, oversee licensed and unlicensed personnel, and utilize the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Engage patients and families in care and discharge planning.
  • Communicate plans of care and pertinent information with the healthcare team.
  • Support leadership in defining standards of excellence and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in orientation of new staff and act as a point of contact for policies and procedures.
  • Participate in daily operational activities ensuring a safe environment.
  • Provide input on unit needs and participate in policy formulation through committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN experience.
  • Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal state.
  • BSN preferred.
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
  • AHA ACLS Provider required within 6 months.
  • NIHSS (Bluecloud) required within 90 days.
Additional Requirements for External Temporary RN Program:
  • Certifications like BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP are required at hire if specified.
  • CPI, ONS, NIHSS certifications are required within 30 days.
  • TNCC or ENPC certifications are required within 30 days or by the next available course.
