Kansas Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Nursing Shift Supervisor in the Cardiac Cath/EP Lab in Olathe. The role leads clinical operations, mentors staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and optimizes patient care on a high-acuity unit.

The ideal candidate has ADN or BSN with several years of nursing and supervisory experience, and holds an active KS/MO RN license with BLS/ACLS/PALS as indicated. Time type: Full time; EOE.

Qualifications

  • ADN accepted without BSN requirement
  • BSN preferred
  • 3+ years of applicable nursing experience
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Current RN license in KS or MO; Nurse Compact License within 60 days of hire
  • BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS as indicated by clinical area

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory standards (JCAHO, CMS, IHI, CAP) and ensures staff compliance.
  • Develops staffing schedules, budgets, and throughput metrics with leadership.
  • Collaborates with Nurse Manager, Director, and physicians to establish care standards.
  • Maintains a safe, respectful environment and addresses patient/family concerns promptly.
  • Uses surveys and feedback to plan improvements and mentor staff.
  • Involves hiring, education, and performance evaluation of staff.
  • Fosters teamwork and professional development across the unit.
  • Demonstrates clinical competencies of the assigned unit.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Nursing Shift Supervisor - Cardiac Cath/EP Lab (Olathe)

Position Summary / Career Interest: Under the supervision of the Manager, the Supervisor assists/supports the division or unit administratively and clinically. Assists in supervisory planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling activities. He/she assumes responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care on the unit. Is responsible for efficient day to day operations of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care which includes JCAHO, CMS, IHI, CAP, etc , instructing staff and ensuring compliance with standards through daily on-going monitoring and performance management.
  • Operational Performance - Develops, prepares and monitors the personnel staffing schedules short and long term, supply and equipment budgets in collaboration with the staff and support department directors, to include applicable quality and throughput metrics.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Director and Physician leadership to establish patient care standards and evaluates staff compliance. Serves as a mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance, meeting patient and family expectations for care while implementing mechanisms to ensure culturally specific care. Responds to patient and family concerns or complaints with sensitivity and compassion in a timely fashion.
  • Uses findings from patient and staff satisfaction surveys and complaints to plan and improve patient care using active mentoring and performance management strategies.
  • Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of the staff. Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff.
  • Creates and maintains a supportive work environment for the entire team. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of respect and courtesy toward patients, staff and colleagues.
  • Makes recommendations and provides opportunities for growth and development of personnel and arranges for appropriate education and training of staff.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Associate Degree Nursing in Nursing Patient Placement Department will accept ADN without requirement to obtain BSN.
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing in Nursing
  • 3 or more years of applicable nursing experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master Degree Nursing in Nursing
  • Previous supervisory experience.
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing Registered Nurse in State of Kansas or State of Missouri
  • As a condition of your employment and continued employment with the health system, you are required to secure a Nurse Compact License (NCL) within 60 days of your date of hire. This will enable you to perform your job duties not only in Kansas (or Missouri), but other compact states. You will be responsible for any expenses you incur in securing this license, and must provide your manager with evidence of this license before the sixty day period expires. If you fail to secure the NCL as required, you will be immediately removed from the work schedule and placed on an unpaid administrative leave, until we can understand the reasons for your non compliance. Further failure to comply with the licensing requirement will result in your end of employment with the health system.
