Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in Hendersonville, NC is seeking a Clinical Nurse to coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, you will work with an interdisciplinary team to achieve patient outcomes.

Required NC RN license or compact state, BLS certification, and ACLS may be required for some units. Preferred one year of acute care/inpatient experience; full-time, day shift, onsite at Pardee UNC Health Care.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or a compact state by the day of clinical care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One (1) year of experience working in an acute care / inpatient hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers patient care under physician direction and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to pursue expected patient outcomes.
• Reports and documents the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response to that care.
• Delivers competent clinical nursing care consistent with organization standards, policies and procedures.
• Prioritizes care according to patient and family needs and consults appropriate resources for complex cases.
• Collaborates with peers to foster intra/interdepartmental communication in a clinical operations environment.
• Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities and discharge needs.
• Communicates care plans with patients and families using cultural competency and active listening.
• Develops clinical and operational excellence through education and training of self and peers.
• Maintains a safe, clean hospital environment with standard precautions and infection control.
• Ensures competency in required skills and completes annual competency assessments.
• Adheres to policies and performs related duties as assigned.

Summary:
Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient's response to that care.
• Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.
• Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.
• Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.
• Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
• Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.
• Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training.
• Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.

Some units may require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to performing clinical care. Training and certification opportunities will be provided.

Required
