Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the Operating Room. You will coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a fast-paced surgical setting.

The role requires NC RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS preferred; night shift, full-time, onsite work with opportunities for training and teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or a compact state by the start date.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
ACLS certification and 1 year of RN experience in acute/inpatient care are preferred.

Responsibilities

Administers patient care under the direction of a physician and collaborates with the care team.
Documents care plans, nursing care provided, and patient responses.
Delivers competent nursing care aligned with policies and procedures.
Organizes and prioritizes care per patient/family needs; consults on complex cases.
Works with peers to foster interdepartmental communication in a clinical operations setting.
Assesses and updates discharge planning needs and engages family in the plan of care.
Promotes safety, infection control, and maintains competency through annual assessments.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Summary:
Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.

Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient's response to that care.

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.

Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.

Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.

Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.

Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.

Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training.

Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.

Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.

Other information:

Some units may require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to performing clinical care. Training and certification opportunities will be provided.
