Position Summary

The role provides clinical oversight of hospital operations, works therapeutically with patients, follows physician orders, conducts assessments, develops and updates treatment plans, manages patient care, facilitates group and individual therapy/education, coordinates referrals, and applies treatment interventions including restraints or seclusion. Responsibilities also include meeting patient goals, maintaining clinical documentation, IV administration, educating families, and supervising other mental health staff.

Essential Functions

• Evaluate patient care upon admission and ongoing, following nursing standards
• Ensure nursing care plans are current and comprehensive
• Assign patient care tasks appropriately
• Review staffing schedules and adjust for absenteeism to meet patient needs
• Administer IVs and perform venipuncture as permitted by law
• Educate patients and families on medication, disorders, benefits, side effects, prevention, and daily living skills
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, treatments, and tests
• Perform psychiatric metric assessments
• Provide pharmaceutical services within scope of license and training
• Develop discharge plans and coordinate post-hospital care to prevent delays
• Provide emergency care as needed

Work Experience

• Minimum of 1 year clinical nursing experience, preferably in geriatrics or mental health

Licensing and Certification

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with RN degree
• Current State RN license
• Current CPR certification
• Current CPI certification

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work unscheduled overtime and weekends
• Ability to work flexible hours

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds
