Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift - 3D Transitional Medical (Stepdown) Unit - Part time - 12 hours per week - Christiana Hospital

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to work 12 hours per week on the Night Shift at our Christiana Hospital on the 3D Transitional Stepdown Unit. Weekend and Holidays are per the guidelines of the department.

The Transitional Medical Unit (TMU)/3D Intermediate Unit team offers a unique opportunity to provide care for acutely ill patients requiring different levels of care. AACN Beacon Award Recipient, Bronze and Silver.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize critical thinking and clinical expertise to assess, plan, and deliver individualized care to an adult patient population with a respiratory focus. Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team including nursing, social work, pharmacy, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and consultants such as Pulmonologists, Nephrologists, Cardiologists, and Infectious Disease specialists.
  • Manage a range of diagnoses including ventilator-dependent respiratory failure, COPD, Pulmonary Hypertension, Acute Renal Failure, GI Bleed, DKA, Sepsis, and others. TMU/3C nurses are highly skilled in caring for acutely ill and complex patients, proficient in ventilator management, trach care, suctioning, wound care, and more.
  • Provide comprehensive, patient and family-centered care to ensure comfort and positive outcomes by educating about medications and disease processes. Monitor patients closely and manage emergencies as needed. Assist in transitioning patients to appropriate levels of care. Typically manage 3-4 patients.

General Requirements:

  • BSN required.
  • ADN candidates must commit to obtaining a BSN within three years of hire; relevant experience may be considered.
