Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a Part-time Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) RN to care for newborns with medical needs and assist families during the critical early hours.

This 12-hour Night Shift role involves attending births, monitoring at-risk infants, educating parents, and contributing to quality nursing through teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in Connecticut.
  • BLS CPR certification; ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years NICU or acute care experience preferred for per diem.

At Saint Francis Hospital, the level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) consists of 28 beds. Preterm and term neonates in need of additional medical and surgical management and highly specialized care are admitted to the unit

What you will do :

  • Attend births and provide care for infants with medical complications directly after birth

  • Monitor the health of infants suffering from medical issues, such as prematurity or congenial defects

  • Educate new parents on the care of their infant, including basic infant care, breastfeeding, and safety

  • Contributes to overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively

  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family members

  • Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN graduate preferred

  • Licensure : Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut

  • Certification : BLS CPR. ACLS Preferred

  • Preferred Experience: Acute Care, Medical-Surgical or Maternity nursing experience preferred - Minimum of 2 year’s NICU experience required for Per Diem
