Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our NICU located at Edgewood Hospital in Edgewood, KY. This full-time role offers a 36-hour work week with Day Shift 7A-7P in a high-acuity neonatal unit.

The RN uses the nursing process to provide evidence-based care, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, and ensures patient safety and family-centered care across shifts. Licensure requirements include an active nursing license and compact-state eligibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate from accredited School of Nursing and hold or be eligible for compact license.
• Licensed to practice nursing in Kentucky (or state of practice).
• Meets contact hour requirements for licensure and ongoing education.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based clinical care to NICU patients using the nursing process.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; work with interdisciplinary teams.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy toward patients and families.

The licensed registered nurse is a professional nurse who is responsible and accountable for providing evidence-based clinical care to designated patients utilizing the nursing process. This is accomplished by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care according to established ethical/cultural codes and standards of nursing practices and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve patient outcomes. The registered nurse is responsible to delegate tasks appropriately to other licensed and unlicensed health care team members.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Qualifications:

Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Graduate from accredited School of Nursing
If eligible, must have a Compact (multi-state) License in their primary state of residence.
Licensed to practice nursing in the state where work is being performed.
Meets contact hour requirements for licensure, including all state-required courses.
Focus of education promotes nurses’ ability to practice in clinical area assigned.

Specialized Knowledge : Demonstrates knowledge of nursing theory, clinical practice standards, procedures, policies and competence in mathematical calculations associated with medication administration. Competent to independently perform safe nursing skills and procedures.
Kind and Length of Experience: Successful completion of preceptorship and orientation to the facility and clinical area. Able to critically think and problem solve in routine and emergency situations.
