Job summary

Banner Health is offering a New Nurse Experience (NNE) residency in Tucson, AZ. This full‑time RN position supports new graduates as they transition from student to professional nurse in a high‑volume observation unit with telemetry.

Successful candidates will be mentored on unit by experienced staff, have access to Banner Simulation Center training, and receive a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career development. A 12‑month unit assignment is expected.

Qualifications

  • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN is preferred - open to ADN at select locations.
  • Current BLS card (through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before a start date.
  • No more than 12 months of RN experience.
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and nursing standards.
  • Work in Banner Health's Observation Units with telemetry and hand‑on patient care responsibilities.
  • Participate in the PCU Academy and ongoing nursing training to develop professional skills.
  • Rotational schedule includes three 12‑hour shifts with weekend and holiday coverage.

Banner Health's New Nurse Experience (NNE) provides a collaborative learning environment where you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and transition from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health.

About our program:

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships.

Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all of our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing - we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! New Grads will also need to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into.

Most new nurses will work three 12-hour shifts, which will include weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members.

Requirements to Apply Online:

Benefits/Compensation:

This is a full time, benefitted, and paid position. Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable. All New Grad RN positions are eligible for Banner Health's "Total Rewards Compensation Package", which includes Health/Dental/Vision insurance (if employee desires), PTO/Sick time accrual, 401K, and a long list of other benefits. Benefits begin the 1st of the month following your start date.

Banner University Medical Center-Tucson has 2 Observation units, a 20-bed unit (4NW) and a 16-bed unit (1NW). The Observation Units strive to provide a highly coordinated experience for our patients and consistent care by providing ongoing, short-term treatment, assessment and reassessment while a decision is being made whether further treatment is needed as a hospital inpatient. Within 48 hours our patients will either be discharged or be admitted to a floor. As an RN on this unit, you can expect to admit, transfer and discharge patients daily. RNs on the Observation unit will participate in the PCU Academy which will provide skills to care for our hospital's adult health population. All 36 beds have telemetry monitoring ability. Observation is a fun and very fast paced environment where nurses and physicians work collaboratively to meet the needs of our patients.

Currently we have night shift and day shift openings.
