The New Graduate RN Residency Program at Banner Health is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) offers a collaborative learning environment to refine nursing skills, enhance knowledge, and transition from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse.

About our program: The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time RN position designed to support new graduates transitioning into professional nursing. It provides clinical mentorship, skills development, and opportunities for professional growth across various career pathways.

Successful candidates will be placed in specific units and mentored by staff and educators. We encourage staying at least 12 months on your assigned unit to gain comprehensive training. Candidates should live within a reasonable commute of the facility.

Most nurses will work three 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Program Activities Include:

  • Clinical experiences with a preceptor
  • Training in Banner Simulation Center
  • Competency assessments
  • Orientation to Cerner electronic health record
  • Hands-on skills labs
  • e-Learning modules
  • Development resources

Requirements to Apply:

  • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted at some locations
  • Current BLS certification
  • No more than 12 months RN experience
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred

Unit Overview: Banner Baywood Medical Center offers a supportive culture. As an RN with the Resource Team CCO, you will float to various units including Med/Surg, PCU, Outpatient Observation, and the PCU/CVPCU at Banner Heart Hospital. Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM are typical.

Position Summary: This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. It requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills tailored to patient needs.

Core Functions: Include patient assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation, and participation in quality improvement activities. Supervisory duties may be involved in some roles. The position involves interaction with staff, patients, families, and external contacts.

Minimum Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS certification, and up to 12 months of RN experience. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Specific fingerprint clearance cards are required for certain settings.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and professional certification are preferred.
