Job description

The RWJBarnabas Health New Graduate RN Residency Program is a one-year program designed to provide new graduate RNs with a safe, caring, supportive, and robust learning environment. Our goal is to enable new graduate nurses to gain additional clinical competencies and achieve a stress-free transition from student to professional practice. Highlights of our program include:

  • Preceptor and new nurse relationship-guided transition support.
  • Continuing education and ongoing professional development.
  • Specialty-specific foundation courses reflecting the scope and standards of practice.
  • Application of professional accountability and ethical practice inherent in the RN role.
  • Recognition of the impact of skilled nursing on patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Self-care focus to maintain a safe and fulfilling nursing practice for both nurses and patients.
  • Mentorship to support new graduates through their first year of practice and beyond.
  • Hiring in the area of specialty to enhance early specialty education.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Night shift, 36 hours per week.
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Active New Jersey RN license or pending license with completed NCLEX.
  • Less than 6 months of RN experience post-graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • ASN or BSN required.
  • AHA BLS certification prior to start date.
  • Career interest in Med Surg specialty preferred.
