Job summary

Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson, AZ, is seeking an RN to provide direct nursing care in line with hospital policies and patient care protocols. You will implement care plans, monitor patients, and coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective discharge planning and timely patient progress.

The role requires an active AZ nursing license, 1 year of RN experience, and BLS; ACLS/PALS may be preferred depending on department. A sign-on bonus is available based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of RN experience is required.
• Active Arizona Nursing License or compact state license with ability to obtain AZ license in 30 days.
• BLS certification is required.
• ACLS, PALS or other department-specific certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team for well-coordinated care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders; document care.
• Assess discharge planning needs with the care team.

Position Summary

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Assessment - An RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a patient, the first step in delivering nursing care. Assessment includes not only physiological data, but also psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors as well.

• Problem Identification - Problem identification is the nurse’s clinical judgment about the patient’s response to actual or potential health conditions or needs.
• Planning and Outcomes – Based on the assessment and problem identification, the nurse sets measurable and achievable short- and long-range goals in collaboration with the patient and family. Assessment data, problem identification, and goals are written in the patient’s care plan so that nurses as well as other health professionals caring for the patient have access to it.

• Implementation – Nursing care is implemented according to the care plan, so continuity of care for the patient during hospitalization and in preparation for discharge is assured. Care is documented in the patient’s record.

• Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Continuing education requirements as defined within the CARE program.
  • Experience: One (1) year as an RN.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • American Heart Association and others as required by individual department as noted in Attachment A.

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • American Heart Association
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or others as required by individual department.
