Job Description

General Summary

This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses at UMMC with over 12 months of experience. The nurse will be competent in the required skills and fully participate in unit governance. They will practice according to the UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter, providing and coordinating care within a clinical specialty, and serving as a key member of the multidisciplinary team. They will demonstrate professional nursing practice, contribute to improving patient outcomes, satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness, and be accountable to patients, families, peers, and the nurse manager.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Successful passing of probation and current mandatory classes/training.
  • Maryland RN licensure or eligibility via Compact agreements.
  • 10 contact hours of education annually.
  • Membership in a professional organization.
  • Recent clinical experience in a comparable setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Leadership ability, such as charge nurse or preceptor roles.
  • Proficiency with computer systems for patient information management.
  • Knowledge of growth and development principles relevant to the patient population.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Patient Safety
  • Ensure patient safety in job performance and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Act to correct risks and report adverse events and near misses.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks in processes, procedures, or devices.

Compensation
  • Pay Range: $37.00 - $51.81
  • Additional Compensation: Shift Differentials
