Job summary

BJC HealthCare in Valley Park, MO, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Nephrology unit on the 8th floor. This 44-bed Renal/Telemetry unit includes a dialysis suite and a mix of renal failure, CHF, pneumonia, COPD, and post‑operative patients.

Responsibilities include direct patient-centered care, patient-family education, care plan development with the interprofessional team, and ensuring safe, compliant care across the continuum. Missouri RN license required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Missouri RN license required.
• BSN preferred; ADN acceptable.
• Entry-level positions available; no minimum experience required.
• Preferred: nephrology or critical care experience.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Nephrology (Valley Park, Missouri)

Unit Overview

• 44‑bed Renal/Telemetry unit on the 8th floor with 24 semi‑private rooms, 1 private room, and an adjacent dialysis suite that accommodates 6 patients.
• Patient census includes renal failure, CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, dehydration, diabetes mellitus, MI, post‑cardiac catheterization, cardiac arrhythmias, direct admits, and post‑operative surgical patients.
• Two negative‑air‑flow rooms; semi‑private rooms can be converted to private for isolation or patient preference.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, patient‑centered care in accordance with nursing standards of practice.
• Promote patient and family‑centered care within a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family.
• Ensure proactive planning and communication of the care plan across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, including patient preferences, barriers to care, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and perform duties in a safe manner as a safety‑sensitive position.

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred; Associate’s or Nursing Diploma acceptable.
• Experience: No minimum clinical experience required; entry‑level positions available.
• Preferred: <2 years of nephrology or critical care experience.
• Proficiency in using critical nursing skills for assessment and care planning.
