Registered Nurse RN, MHCL Medical Surgical / Step-Down ICU

Overview

• Night Shift (7:00PM - 7:30AM)
• 72 hours / 2 weeks
• Critical Access Hospital

Provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values, and strategic plan. May include variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned, including floating to various units based on needs and competency.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
• Performs assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations of care.
• Administers medications and treatments per policies, procedures, and legal standards.
• Ensures accurate and comprehensive documentation.
• Develops and executes individualized care plans, providing education to patients and families.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and shared governance.
• Supports system-wide patient care initiatives and resolves systems issues.
• Uses critical thinking to manage complex situations, delegate appropriately, and escalate issues as needed.
• Engages in personal development and supports evidence-based practice improvements.
• Participates in peer review and professional development activities.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• BSN preferred.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current IL RN license.
• CPR/BLS certification within 90 days.
• ACLS and PALS certifications within 1 year.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and use of hands. Occasionally lifts up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required.
