Job summary

Jersey City Medical Center's Mental Health Unit-Open Unit seeks a dedicated RN for the night shift. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care, ensuring safety, and collaborating with the care team. Requirements include ADN, NJ RN license (or compact with NJ endorsement), BLS, and strong communication.

BSN preferred; two years of Behavioral Health RN experience preferred. Part-time hours include 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 23.25 hours weekly, with every other weekend/holiday rotation;

Qualifications

• ADN required and active NJ RN license or compact license with NJ endorsement
• BLS from the American Heart Association required
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of practice and adheres to regulatory standards and ANA code of ethics
• Maintains patient safety and applies evidence-based practice
• Reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors
• Supervises and directs delegation of tasks to team members and collaborates with other care providers
• Sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes

Qualifications:

Required:

• ADN
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Scheduling Requirements:

• Night Shift, 23.25 hours 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Monday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Part Time

Essential Functions:

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
