Job summary

Hartford Hospital is a major teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center in New England. Bliss 11 ICU provides 16-bed critical care, with a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering care 24/7 to patients with complex conditions.

The ICU RN role requires CT license, BSN, and BLS, with strong critical thinking and teamwork in a high-stakes setting. ADN/ASN considered in exceptional cases; Graduate Nurse pathways are available.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• BSN required from an accredited nursing school.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association prior to hire date.
• Minimum one year acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
• ADN/ASN may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
• Graduate Nurses may apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.

Responsibilities

This posting is on Bliss 11 ICU, the Medicine Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed unit that provides care to patients with a wide range of complex, highly acute medical issues. These issues include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, and drug and alcohol withdrawal. Under the supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist, the unit is staffed 24 hours-a-day with a team of Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and medical house staff physicians consisting of interns and residents.

In the Medicine ICU, our goal is to develop our staff into well-rounded, highly skilled medical professionals. The unit will push you to your limits as you will be working in a fast-paced environment where your critical thinking, vast medical knowledge, clear communication, and your extensive skillset will be challenged and grown.

In Critical Care, our Registered Nurses (RNs) are highly skilled and trained; helping to provide expertise at the bedside and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. The units heavily rely on a team-based mentality in which all healthcare team members work congruently to achieve the best outcomes based on the Hartford Healthcare values of Safety, Excellence, Integrity and Caring.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
• Minimum one year acute care Registered Nurse experience strongly preferred.
• In exceptional circumstances, experienced RNs with an ADN/ASN who are currently in pursuit of a BSN or MSN may be considered.
• Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.
