Job summary

Lifepoint Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical unit. The role provides direct patient care using the nursing process, reporting to the Department Director/Manager.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred), an active RN license in the state of practice, and relevant certifications. The job emphasizes teamwork, education, and patient advocacy across diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS certification required.
• ACLS and PALS certifications are preferred.
• Handle with Care certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

Exposure: Regular occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
