Position Summary

The Med/Surg unit provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients, using the nursing process aligned with standards and organizational policies. The role involves coordinating total nursing care, participating in patient and family education, advocating for patients, and collaborating with healthcare teams.

• Assess patient condition and care needs
• Set goals and prescribe nursing interventions
• Develop and implement care plans
• Evaluate patient outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians and staff
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies
• Communicate with patients and oversee care
• Educate patients and families about conditions
• Document observations, assessments, and care accurately

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire

License

• Registered Nurse license to practice in Kentucky
