Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Medical Step Down Unit (MSDU) at Rochester General Hospital. This role supports patients who need closer monitoring than a general medical unit but not ICU level care, working alongside a collaborative team of providers, therapists and pharmacists.

The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, document thoroughly, and ensure safety and quality standards.

Formación

• Diploma or AS in Nursing is required.
• Active NYS RN license and BLS certification are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provides high-quality, patient-centered clinical care.
• Performs initial and ongoing patient assessments with relevant data.
• Communicates assessment findings to the interdisciplinary team and documents them.
• Develops and documents individualized care plans and services.
• Follows policies on safety, medication administration and documentation.
• Revises plans based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation.
• Completes at least one CRU form submission using a recent US nursing article.

The team works closely with providers, respiratory therapists, social workers, and pharmacists.RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical carePerforms initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States.COMPLIANCE:Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Diploma or Associate’s Degree in NursingRegistered Nurse license in New York State.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.At least 6 months RN experience preferredEDUCATION:AS: Nursing (Required)LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of ProfessionsNew York State Education Department (NYSED)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE.
