RWJBarnabas Health in Morris Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Surgical Oncology unit. This 32-bed unit provides private rooms for a variety of surgical and intermediate care cases. The role offers a Part-Time Day Shift (7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• BLS Certification required.
• BSN strongly preferred or to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• ACLS certification preferred or within 6 months of employment.
• Prior 1 year of acute care RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and providers to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and families clearly and compassionately.
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR to ensure continuity of care.

Surgical Oncology is an 32 bed Oncology Unit . All 32 beds are private rooms. In this unit, you will see a variety of surgical & intermediate care cases.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS Certification with at least 1 year of acute care RN experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. National Board Certification and ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience within acute care is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Part-Time Day Shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday - Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 36 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
