Job summary

Hartford Hospital in Connecticut is hiring an ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for Bliss 7 Medical ICU. The unit is a 12-bed, high-acuity environment with 24/7 staffing under a Critical Care Pulmonologist and a team of PAs, ARNPs, RNs, and residents.

The role requires a current Connecticut RN license, BSN, BLS, and ideally one year of acute care experience. ASN/ADN candidates pursuing BSN/MSN may be considered, and Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• BSN degree required.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
• Minimum one year acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
• ASN/ADN candidates may be considered if pursuing BSN/MSN.
• Graduate Nurses encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in Bliss 7 ICU (12-bed unit) under supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist.
• Be part of a 24/7 staffing team including PAs, ARNPs, RNs and residents to deliver high-acuity care.

This posting is on Bliss 7 ICU, the Medical Intensive Care Unit which is a 12-bed unit that provides care to patients with a wide range of complex, highly acute medical issues. These issues include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, and drug and alcohol withdrawal. Under the supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist, the unit is staffed 24 hours a day with a team of Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and medical house staff physicians consisting of interns and residents.

In the Medical ICU, our goal is to develop our staff into well-rounded, highly skilled medical professionals. The unit will push you to your limits as you will be working in a fast-paced environment where your critical thinking, vast medical knowledge, clear communication, and your extensive skillset will be challenged and grown.

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
• Minimum one year acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
• In exceptional circumstances, Registered Nurses with an ASN/ADN who are currently in pursuit of a BSN or MSN may be considered.
• Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.
