Job summary

Hartford Hospital is recruiting for an ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Bliss 7 Medical ICU. This 12-bed unit cares for highly acute medical patients around the clock, with supervision from a Critical Care Pulmonologist and a busy team of PAs, APRNs, RNs, interns and residents.

The ideal candidate has a Connecticut RN license, a BSN, and BLS certification, with at least one year of acute care experience. The role requires nights, permanent status, and shared weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN license is required.
• BSN from an accredited nursing program is required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required before hire.
• Minimum of one year acute care RN experience is preferred.
• Graduate Nurses may apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill patients in the 12-bed Medical ICU.
• Work under supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist and a multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with PAs, APRNs, RNs, interns and residents to deliver patient care.
• Support a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with strong clinical decision making.

This posting is on Bliss 7 ICU, the Medical Intensive Care Unit which is a 12‑bed unit that provides care to patients with a wide range of complex, highly acute medical issues. These issues include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, and drug and alcohol withdrawal. Under the supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist, the unit is staffed 24 hours a day with a team of Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and medical house staff physicians consisting of interns and residents.

In the Medical ICU, our goal is to develop our staff into well‑rounded, highly skilled medical professionals. The unit will push you to your limits as you will be working in a fast‑paced environment where your critical thinking, vast medical knowledge, clear communication, and your extensive skillset will be challenged and grown.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
• Minimum one year acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
• In exceptional circumstances, Registered Nurses with an ASN/ADN who are currently in pursuit of a BSN or MSN may be considered.
• Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.
