Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical Critical Care Stepdown Unit (IMC/MCCSU) to work full-time nights 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. with weekend and holiday rotations.

A sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for eligible nurses. The team provides transition-level care for stable but critically ill patients across medical and surgical diagnoses, with a 24-bed unit and a typical 3:1 nurse-patient ratio.

Qualifications

• Education: BSN or AD; BSN within 5 years if AD.
• 1 year of RN experience in CCU/critical care setting.
• BLS & ACLS certification and Virginia RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments and interpret data sets.
• Develop and revise individualized plans of care.
• Deliver patient-centered care, coordinating with families and team.
• Advocate for patients and resolve issues with the care team.
• Coordinate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Document all care activities per standards and support the team.
• Evaluate care processes and revise plans as needed.

Job Description

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Critical Care Stepdown Unit. This role will be full-time 3-12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. with weekend & holiday rotations (approximately 5 weekend shifts in a 6-week period + 2 holiday shifts per year). Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available for eligible nurses.

Inova Fairfax Hospital Intermediate Care (IMC) also known as the Medical Critical Care Stepdown Unit (MCCSU) is a 24-bed unit specializing in the care of stable but critically ill patients. Our goal is to provide transition-level care to patients who while stable, still require a high degree of support. The IMC/MCCSU patient population consists of a wide range of both medical and surgical diagnoses including Kidney transplant, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Respiratory Disorders, End of Life Cancer, and Ventilator management with an emphasis on weaning. Assignments are based on patient acuity and staff skill level. The usual nurse/patient ratio is 3:1.

Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Critical Care StepdownJob Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within 2 years from date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, for Critical Care units, 1year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Certification:BLS & ACLS from American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience:Intermediate Care, ED, PCU, PACU, and/or Cardiac Telemetry strongly preferred.
• Other:Good communication skills, professional, team player, takes feedback well, proactive listener.
