Base pay range

$37.51/hr - $56.20/hr

Department: Medical Surgical Peds

Employment Status (Full Time Equivalent): Part-time (0.8 FTE)- 64 hours per pay period

Shift: 8 hour, 12 hour, or combination of the two available

Hours

8 hour shifts rotating

  • 7:00am-3:30pm
  • 3:00pm-11:30pm
  • 11:00pm-7:30am
  • Every Other Weekend
  • Holiday Rotation

12 hour shifts rotating

  • 7:00am-7:30pm
  • 7:00pm-7:30am
  • Every Third Weekend
  • Holiday Rotation

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for accessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care plans to facilitate optimal patient care. He/she must support the mission, goals, policies and standards of the nursing department and hospital to ensure excellence in nursing practice, must participate in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice, promote an environment that encourages individual growth and nurtures professional practice and utilize experience and educational skills to assume an active role in orienting/teaching of staff.

Essential Functions

  • Conforms with and provides nursing care according to the physician orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State/Federal regulations
  • Monitors patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to insure patient comfort and safety
  • Performs routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times
  • Consults and coordinates with physicians and other healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
  • Acts as a liaison between team and medical staff, nursing, etc.
  • Advise patients on health maintenance and preventative medicine
  • Facilitate teaching experiences for staff and individuals
  • Check and maintain nursing supplies inventory

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as requested
  • Participates in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings
  • Demonstrates ability to use equipment relevant to the position

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • When serving as a Charge Nurse, he/she coordinates and directs unit operation so that patient/family needs are met and staff is efficiently utilized.
  • The Charge Nurse is responsible for the assignment of nursing personnel to patient care and other responsibilities consistent with patient needs and staff competence.
  • The Registered Nurse provides supervision of patient care provided by the LPN and/or Patient Care Assistants.
  • Must be willing to work charge if needed.
  • Will not be combined with other positions. Majority of shifts will be scheduled on Med/Surg/Ped.

Qualifications

  • May be a graduate of one of the following approved professional nursing schools: Two-year Associates Degree Program; three-year Diploma Program; or four-year BSN Program
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Two years of experience working as a registered nurse preferred
  • Internal Applicants-Must currently be scheduled a majority of shifts on Medical/Surgical/Pediatric and be proficient at Medical/Surgical/Pediatric skills. Will not be combined with other positions. Will be scheduled and must work a majority of shifts on Medical/Surgical/Pediatric.
