Job description

St. Croix Health is currently seeking a limited part-time (0.45 FTE) Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team. This position offers day shifts (7 am - 7:30 pm), every third weekend, and every third holiday.

The Registered Nurse will support, plan, direct, communicate, and evaluate direct patient care across all age groups, fostering an environment of exceptional service. The role requires proficiency in the nursing process, contributing to assessments, care planning, and care evaluation.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide skilled patient care
    • Administer medications and monitor patient reactions.
    • Record medical information and vital signs.
    • Monitor and report symptoms or changes in condition.
    • Adjust treatment plans based on patient responses.
    • Manage all aspects of patient care, including diet and activity.
    • Prescribe or recommend treatments and therapies.
    • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
    • Manage pain relief and sedation, adjusting care plans as needed.
    • Perform emergency procedures like BLS and ACLS.
    • Diagnose acute or chronic conditions requiring urgent attention.
    • Assess health conditions using physiological and technological data.
    • Evaluate the impact of health issues on overall well-being.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests based on assessments.
    • Follow nursing standards and the nursing process.
    • Assess multiple systems, develop care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
    • Prioritize patient care based on needs.
    • Identify learning needs and tailor patient education accordingly.
  2. Demonstrate professional growth and competent nursing practice
    • Maintain infection control practices.
    • Practice hand hygiene consistently.
    • Demonstrate critical thinking and apply clinical knowledge.
  3. Accurate documentation in EMR
    • Document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses.
  4. Communication with healthcare teams and patients
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Coordinate and assess patient care plans.
    • Supervise Certified Nursing Assistants.
    • Provide health education and develop health programs.
    • Assess environmental and social factors affecting health.
    • Communicate patient status to physicians and families.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Current WI Registered Nurse license required.
  • BLS certification required at hire.
  • Prior acute care experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, independence, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform prolonged standing or sitting.
