Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England in Hartford, CT, is seeking a dedicated Postpartum/Maternity RN to join our team on the 12-hour night shift.

You will care for postpartum, newborn, antepartum and gynecology patients, provide education to families, monitor patients, and participate in performance improvement to enhance care. Eligible candidates hold RN licensure in CT, BSN preferred, and BLS/ACLS per policy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current CT RN licensure.
• BLS CPR required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support to new mothers and educate families on feeding, bathing and newborn care.
• Monitor mothers and newborns for signs of illness or complications.
• Contribute to quality of nursing care through performance improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with administrative staff, colleagues, patients and families.
• Educate patients and families to ensure understanding of care being provided.

Position Purpose

At Saint Francis Hospital the Postpartum/Maternity unit consists of 29 private rooms for postpartum, newborn, antepartum and gynecology patients. Maternity nurses are responsible for providing care to women who are pregnant, recently gave birth, newborns or for the woman who has had gynecological surgery.

What you will do

• Provide emotional support and guidance to new mothers, educate parents on best practices for feeding, bathing, and sleeping, as well support breastfeeding
• Monitor women and newborns. for signs of illness or complications
• Contribute to overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively
• Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family members
• Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduate preferred
• Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut
• Certification: BLS CPR. ACLS Preferred
• Preferred Experience: Acute Care, Medical-Surgical or Maternity nursing experience preferred. Two years' experience for per diem positions

Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $36.15 - $59.95/hour

Pay is based on working RN experience only. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Unit Based Specialty pay available for experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
