Job description

Veterans Engineering (VE) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Long-Term Care (LTC) team. The LTC RN provides high-quality, veteran-centered care to residents in a community living center (CLC) or other long-term care units. This role is vital in delivering both skilled nursing care and emotional support to our nation’s heroes.

Position Highlights:

  • Location: Canandaigua VA Medical Center
  • Status: Full time
  • Compensation: $69,161 to $128,587 per year
  • Period of Performance: Base Period: (6-month order) + 4 OY

Founded in 2004, Veterans Engineering began as a specialized engineering firm and has since evolved into a leading human resources and staffing organization. We proudly support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs across a range of clinical and physician staffing services nationwide.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct nursing care to Veterans in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Assess patient conditions, plan and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, while monitoring for side effects or complications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, therapists, social workers, and other nurses.
  • Support residents’ daily living activities while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life.
  • Educate patients and families about health maintenance and disease management.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation using VHA electronic health records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with VHA standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current, active RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, geriatrics, or rehabilitation.
  • Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with VA protocols and electronic medical records (CPRS) is a plus.
