Avera Aberdeen Family Physicians is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for a day shift in our Aberdeen, SD clinic. You will provide professional nursing care, administer medications, and coordinate patient care with physicians and the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state license.
• CPR certification (if required by facility) is preferred.
• Ability to perform nursing assessments and administer medications per standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care to patients and families.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Coordinate patient care activities with clinic staff and physicians.
• Prepare equipment and assist providers during procedures and exams.
• Observe and report patient condition and responses to treatments.
• Greet patients and prep for examinations; take vitals and health history.
• Document information in patient charts and maintain confidentiality.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewResponsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians as well as other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care.What you will doPerforms general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination. Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, taking vitals, and conducting a nursing assessment. Documents obtained information in patient chart. Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed.
