Avera Orthopedics Aberdeen is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide professional nursing care to patients and families. You will work with physicians and the healthcare team to deliver high-quality care in a clinic setting.

You will administer prescribed medications, coordinate patient care activities, assist providers during procedures, monitor vitals, document in patient charts, and educate patients about procedures and health maintenance. Schedule varies; as needed.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state of practice.
  • Current nursing licensure is required to practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional nursing care to patients and families.
  • Adminsisters prescribed medications and treatments per nursing standards.
  • Coordinates patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepares equipment and assists providers during procedures and testing.
  • Observes and documents patient condition and responses to treatments.
  • Manages appointment flow and prioritizes urgent patient needs.
  • Greet patients, obtain health history, take vitals, and perform nursing assessments.
  • Educates patients and families about diagnostics, medications, nutrition, and wellness.
  • Responds to patient inquiries with physician input; maintains exam rooms and supplies.
  • Labels pathology specimens per lab protocol and maintains quality records.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewResponsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians as well as other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care.What you will doPerforms general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination. Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, taking vitals, and conducting a nursing assessment. Documents obtained information in patient chart. Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed.
