Minimum of one year inpatient experience or women's health (RN/LPN) is required for LDRP.

The LDRP unit at CMH provides antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, intraoperative, postoperative, and newborn care to our communities expecting families. We deliver an average of 20-25 babies each month. The unit features 4 LDRP rooms, 2 triage/antepartum rooms, and 1 operating room. Our friendly staff of physicians and nurses is committed to providing safe, state-of-the-art medical care. We follow AWHONN staffing guidelines and promote a positive, patient- and family-centered work environment. The Clinical Nurse I role involves integrating technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs. It assists the healthcare team with illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision. It provides guidance, education, and begins developing leadership skills at the unit level. It delivers and documents age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary care plan, and safely administers prescribed medications, recognizing potential interactions.

The Clinical Nurse II role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and begins applying this knowledge to specific patient populations. It recognizes changes in patient conditions and intervenes appropriately, mobilizing resources to meet individual needs. It provides leadership, guidance, and education at the unit level, and delivers and documents age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan. It also safely administers prescribed medications, identifying interactions.

The Clinical Nurse III role exhibits advanced clinical knowledge and applies it to patient care. It anticipates patient condition changes and intervenes accordingly. It serves as a role model, providing guidance, education, and leadership within the clinical setting. It delivers and documents age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan, and safely administers prescribed medications, recognizing potential interactions.

**Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:**
Clin I, Clin II, Clin III: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility in a compact state.

**Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:**
Clin I, Clin II, Clin III: Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.

**Experience REQUIRED:**
Clin I: N/A
Clin II: 12 to 24 months RN experience
Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience

**Experience PREFERRED:**
Clin I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting or relevant area.
Clin II, Clin III: Academic healthcare experience; experience with similar patient populations in acute care or relevant area.

**Education/training REQUIRED:**
Clin I, Clin II, Clin III: Diploma or Associate's Degree from an approved nursing program recognized by the state's Board of Nursing. All RNs without a Bachelor's in Nursing must enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years unless grandfathered.

**Education/training PREFERRED:**
Clin I, Clin II, Clin III: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program. Clin III: Certification in a specialty area.

**Independent actions:**
Follows documented physician/licensed provider orders, practices within Virginia nursing regulations, guided by the ANA Code of Ethics and national standards, and adheres to VCUHS policies and procedures.

**Supervisory responsibilities:**
Organizes work and delegates tasks to others (RN, LPN, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.).

**Additional requirements:**
Clinicians work all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Schedules are established with the Nurse/Practice Manager and may be adjusted as needed.

**Age-specific groups served:**
As appropriate based on unit assignment.

**Physical requirements:**
Lifting 20-50 lbs., exposure to hazardous/infectious substances, prolonged standing/sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.

**Mental/Sensory:**
Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking.

**Emotional:**
Fast-paced environment, steady pace, handling multiple priorities, frequent customer interactions, noisy environment.
