Job summary

Northwell Health's Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care during labor and delivery. This full-time position is based in Staten Island, NY and emphasizes patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

You will assess physiologic health status, conduct patient interviews, document plans of care, manage pain, and coordinate with the care team to ensure safety and high-quality outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Current New York State RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s physiologic health status.
• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures.
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition.
• Assess level of pain and pain management.
• Communicate and document patient’s physiologic health status and plan of care.
• Elicit perception of medical/nursing care and expectations.
• Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes.
• Formulate the plan of care and establish priorities.
• Maintain constant vigilance over patient care to ensure safety precautions are followed.

Requirements

Education:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.

Licenses & Certifications:

• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
• BLS certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
