RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for a 12.5‑hour night shift at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey. The role emphasizes patient assessment, evidence‑based care, and collaborative teamwork to enhance patient experiences and outcomes.

Minimum 2 years in Labor & Delivery preferred; NJ RN license, BLS, and EPIC EMR familiarity required. ACLS/NRP and bachelor’s degree preferred; biweekly weekend shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/NRP preferred.
• 2+ years in Labor & Delivery nursing preferred.
• Comfort with EPIC EMR and continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and detect clinical changes early.
• Administer safe, evidence‑based medications and provide hands‑on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and teams for timely care decisions.
• Educate patients and families to support informed care decisions.

As a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands‑on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well‑coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing, and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. A bachelor’s degree in nursing, ACLS and NRP certifications, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a full‑time schedule on the night shift and 12.5‑hour shifts at 37.5 weekly hours. Biweekly weekends are required, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
