Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor and Delivery unit. The RN will play a vital role in providing exceptional, patient-centered care to expectant mothers, ensuring a safe and supportive birth experience. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment that values collaboration, excellence, and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit, guiding mothers through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with obstetricians, perinatologists, anesthesiologists, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, responding to changes in condition and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Educate patients and families on labor and postpartum care, fostering a supportive environment for new mothers.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Uphold cultural and diversity awareness, ensuring a respectful and inclusive care environment.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Multistate Compact License.
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care hospital nursing experience (Labor and Delivery experience preferred).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
Unit & Facility Details
  • 12-bed Labor & Delivery unit
  • 466-bed hospital
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
  • Not a unionized facility
