Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’s competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum & Preferred Education & Experience

• Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree

• Preferred Experience: Two years in acute care; previous clinical nursing experience

Required Certifications & Licensure

Possession of a current Texas State License for Registered Nurse.

Required Courses / Completions

• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role.
• AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
• Fetal Monitoring – L&D and Antepartum: Novice RNs must complete GNOSIS introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring within 30 days of hire or transfer date, and AWHONN Intermediate Heart Monitoring within 8 months of L&D orientation. Experienced L&D RNs must have AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring on hire or within the first 90 days.
• S.T.A.B.L.E. – Level 2 Nursery: Proof of prior completion required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer date (renewal not required).
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (PEDIATRICS).
