Overview:


As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Labor and Delivery department, you will provide specialized care to expectant mothers and newborns throughout childbirth. Your role is crucial in ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care.


Responsibilities:


  • Labor Support: Provide comprehensive nursing care, monitor vital signs, assess fetal well-being, and manage pain relief options.
  • Delivery Assistance: Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, maintaining a safe environment.
  • Postpartum Care: Monitor mothers and newborns, provide breastfeeding support, and address postpartum concerns.
  • Patient Education: Educate families on childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to obstetric emergencies with critical thinking and adherence to protocols.
  • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients’ preferences and ensure their needs are met.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in enhancing patient care processes and outcomes through quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure and possess an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree or RN Diploma in Nursing.


Additional requirements include:


· BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire


· ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 6 months of employment, if not current upon hire


· NRP certification from approved American Heart Association training center required within 6 months of employment.
