Registered Nurse (RN) Intermediate Care/Stepdown Unit

This position is based on a 24-bed unit with private rooms, focusing on Med-Surg./Ortho care, especially Orthopedic and Urology surgeries. Position Overview

The Stepdown RN utilizes the nursing process to deliver comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The role involves patient teaching, care coordination, and ensuring safety and quality improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop care plans.
  • Administer medications safely per policies.
  • Coordinate care across hospital departments.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient advocacy.
  • Manage patients with complex conditions like multi-system failures or trauma.
  • Apply the AACN Synergy Model to support patient stability and recovery.
  • Respond effectively to rapid changes in patient conditions.
Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state or covered by a compact.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS, CCRN, PCCN, NIH Stroke certifications preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
