Job description

Job Overview:

The experienced acute care Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years' critical care or recent/current telemetry experience is required.
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or complete the requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire.
• Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Current and active New Jersey RN licensure.
• Baccalaureate Degree or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day shift, 7A-8P, 12.5-hour shifts, full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
• Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotations.

Essential Functions:

• Provide nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, ensuring awareness of ethical standards as per the ANA code of ethics.
• Maintain safety in practice, utilizing evidence-based principles, and advancing personal and team knowledge through communication and available resources.
• Report safety issues and medical errors promptly.
• Understand the patient population served.
• Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
• Set and evaluate priorities with measurable outcomes for improvement.
• Utilize the nursing process to individualize care plans addressing specific patient needs.
