Job summary

Wilson Medical Center is seeking an RN to join the newly opened 18-bed ICU in Wilson, NC. The unit operates with a 1:2/3 nurse‑to‑patient ratio and provides care for ventilated patients with various supports.

The role offers a night schedule with rotating weekends/holidays in a spacious, bright unit. Responsibilities include patient assessments, initiating nursing interventions, documentation, care planning, and participation in QI activities.

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license in good standing.
• Nursing degree from an accredited school.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 1–2 years Med/Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate patient assessments and identify needs.
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Document medical necessity timely in the medical record.
• Develop and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Complete timely and accurate QI assessments.

Overview

Join our 18‑bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The unit is staffed with Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and operates with a 1:2/3 nurse‑to‑patient ratio. Patients treated include ventilated patients, continuous BiPAP, vasopressor drips, DKA on insulin drips, ETOH on CIWA, and mixed intermediate care. The role offers an opportunity to work in a newly opened unit that is very spacious and bright.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in the state with a current state RN license
• Degree from an accredited nursing school
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
• 1‑2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
