Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Inpatient Lactation Consultant to join the team. This position offers part-time hours, with day and evening shifts totaling 20 hours per week.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities:

Registered Nurse (RN) Inpatient Lactation Consultant Additional Requirements:
* Schedule: This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week, consisting of one 8-hour shift and one 12 hour shift. The shifts will include a mix of daytime and evening hours, with day shifts from 07:30 AM to 04:00 PM or 08:30 AM to 05:00 PM, and evening shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on weekdays. Weekend shifts will always be 8 hours.
Weekend Requirement: Staff will be required to work 2 Saturdays and 2 Sundays within a six-week schedule.
* Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
* Experience: Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, for Critical Care units, 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
* Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start | For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 Months | For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support- Within 6 Months | For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card- within 3 months of hire
* Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license


Registered Nurse (RN) Inpatient Lactation Consultant Preferred Qualifications:



  • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient postpartum or NICU unit

  • Candidates who currently hold an IBCLC certification or are in the process of obtaining it
