Job summary

Sandusky Rheumatology is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Infusion Nurse for a PRN, part-time role in our outpatient rheumatology infusion center. You will assess patients, prepare and administer biologic and infusion medications, monitor responses, and provide education and support to patients with rheumatologic conditions.

Qualifications

• Current RN license is required.
• BLS certification required.
• Infusion, rheumatology, ambulatory care, or specialty practice experience preferred.
• Strong IV therapy, assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
• Must be able to work independently and prioritize duties with good organizational skills.
• Infusion experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and review laboratory results for treatment readiness.
• Prepare infusion medications and administer IV therapies per established protocols.
• Initiate and maintain IV access and monitor for adverse reactions or complications.
• Educate patients and families about medications, treatment plans, side effects, and disease management.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, pharmacists, and clinical staff to coordinate care.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient outcomes in the EMR.
• Support scheduling, prior authorizations, medication safety, and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain a safe, patient-centered environment and respond to emergency situations.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Infusion Nurse (Rheumatology)

Join our growing Rheumatology team and play a vital role in providing high-quality infusion therapy and patient care. The RN Infusion Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, administering physician-ordered biologic and infusion medications, monitoring treatment responses, and providing education and support to patients with rheumatologic conditions. This is a PRN position. This position is flexible to accommodate other employment commitments to support the needs of the PRN Infusion Nurse.

• Perform patient assessments and review laboratory results to ensure treatment readiness.
• Prepare infusion medication and add mixed drug to the IV saline solution for administration.
• Administer infusion therapies, biologic medications, and related treatments according to established protocols.
• Initiate and maintain IV access and monitor patients throughout treatment for adverse reactions or complications.
• Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, side effects, and disease management.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and clinical staff to coordinate care.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Support scheduling, prior authorizations, medication safety, and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain a safe, patient-centered environment and respond appropriately to emergency situations.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Previous infusion, rheumatology, ambulatory care, or specialty practice experience preferred.
• Strong IV therapy, assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
• Must be able to work independently, be able to prioritize duties and have excellent organizational skills.
