Job summary

St. Francis–Emory Healthcare in Columbus, GA, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care using the nursing process in an acute care setting.

You will collaborate with the care team, document care, administer medications, and support patients and families. BSN preferred; active RN license and BLS required; ACLS/ NCI may be required.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary nursing diploma/certificate from an accredited school (Required).
• BSN degree (Preferred).
• Active RN license in state of practice at hire.
• BLS certification required at hire or within specified time frame.
• ACLS certification may be required; NCI certification may be facility-specific.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and basic needs.
• Coordinates patient care with interdisciplinary teams including transfers, discharges, and referrals.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and condition.
• Advocates for patient health and well-being.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Essential Functions

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient and/or family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needed.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) from an accredited school of nursing (Required) And
• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (BSN) (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of practice Upon Hire (Required)
• BCLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Assoc. or other approved program Upon Hire or within facility-specified time frame (Required)
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support from American Heart Assoc. or other approved program Upon Hire or within facility-specified time frame (May be Required-Facility Specific)
• NCI -Non-violent Crisis Intervention Or Current Program Upon Hire or within facility-specified time frame (May be Required-Facility Specific)

Experience

• 6 months Medical/Surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting (Preferred) And
• Prior Experience with critical thinking, decision-making, and effective prioritization in a fast-paced environment (Preferred)
