Job summary

St. Francis–Emory Healthcare in Columbus, GA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with scope and standards of practice.

You will perform plan of care interventions, document care, monitor patient condition, assist with activities of daily living, coordinate across disciplines, and educate patients and families. Requires RN license, BCLS, ACLS (facility may require), and BSN preferred; 6 months medical/surgical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 6 months Medical/Surgical nursing experience (Preferred).
• Prior experience with critical thinking, decision-making, and effective prioritization in a fast-paced environment (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Documents patient care given and monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and/or family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and psychosocial support as needed.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition and circumstances.
• Acts as advocate for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being and performs other duties as assigned.

• Documents patient care given.

• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needed.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) from an accredited school of nursing (Required) And
• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (BSN) (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of practice Upon Hire (Required)
• BCLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Assoc. or other approved program Upon Hire or within facility-specified time frame (Required)
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support from American Heart Assoc. or other approved program Upon Hire or within facility-specified time frame (May be Required-Facility Specific)
• NCI -Non-violent Crisis Intervention Or Current Program Upon Hire or within facility-specified time frame (May be Required-Facility Specific)

Experience

• 6 months Medical/Surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting (Preferred) And
• Prior Experience with critical thinking, decision-making, and effective prioritization in a fast-paced environment (Preferred)
