Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment managed by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Spalding Medical Center

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing nursing assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation using evidence-based practices.
  • Providing relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to individual and cultural needs.
  • Partnering with patients and families through effective communication and education.
  • Practicing according to current clinical standards and standards of the American Nurses Association.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Ensuring safe, quality care through effective interdisciplinary communication and documentation.
  • Practicing in a fiscally responsible manner while promoting team recruitment and retention.
  • Supporting performance improvement and shared governance activities.
Professional Development
  • Completing required competencies and education.
  • Serving as a preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce.
Evidence-Based Practice
  • Promoting research and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participating in data collection and clinical research to improve patient outcomes.
Resources and Support
  • Planning for patient care across the continuum.
  • Developing protocols to improve outcomes and reduce readmissions.

Other duties as assigned. Complies with all organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Accredited Nursing Program or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid RN license (single state or multi-state compact), BLS, ACLS (Instructor or Provisional).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of direct patient care preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, critical thinking, time management, and proficiency with clinical technology.
