Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse licensed in Tennessee or Compact State with proper paperwork.
  • Must have BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications within 90 days.
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides after‑hours leadership and assists in patient care.
  • Documents patient care and monitors patient conditions.
  • Collaborates to coordinate patient care and provides education.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral and support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient education accordingly.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

How you'll contribute
  • Provides after‑hours leadership, functions as a resource person for staff, assists in patient care, and is responsible for overall quality of patient care in the facility. Reports to the Senior or Chief Nursing Officer or Administrator on Call.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

What we're looking for
  • Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 90 days of hire and Handle With Care (HWC) within 90 days of hire.
  • Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
