Works collaboratively with Transfer Center, physicians, family members, other departments, Charge Nurses, EC, etc., to expedite throughput and achieve throughput goals; Assures timely throughput patient processes via encouraging/ expediting \"pull\" behavior, effective proactive discharge planning, utilization of technology to enable communication and flow and monitoring/ intervening to assure appropriate turnaround times; Assigns critical care beds; Expedites transfers out of EC and Critical Care to floor; Expedites discharges via use of Non-Emergency Transportation/ taxi vouchers/ family conversations, etc..; Evaluates need for changes in diversion status; Evaluates need for telemetry and works with physicians to appropriately discontinue; Assures beds reopened as soon as possible within criteria; Collaborates with Transfer Center on a frequent basis.
Serve as a resource for wound care, wound vac and photography, IV, specialty bed approval; Responding to Rapid Response calls, assuring appropriate calls, documentation, and evaluation; Serving on Code Blue/ Code PALS team, assuring appropriate documentation, patient placement, follow up; Provides one on one staff education and mentoring; Assists in assessing and documentation competency of staff members; Provides peer review of colleagues; Role modeling handling conflict and difficult situations with peers and other disciplines; Assisting staff in finding appropriate policies and procedures toward appropriate decision making; Demonstrating how to access knowledge based resources 24/7, including various intranet based resources and proctored Health Resource Center access to address emergency patient care needs; Demonstrates knowledge of Magnet and regulatory requirements, role modeling, teaching, monitoring, and providing appropriate feedback.

Reinforces and facilitates staff attendance at mandatory in-servicing for designed new products, services, and/or standards; Handling personnel issues that require immediate intervention, including appropriate intervention for unacceptable clinical/ behavioral staff practice, while working with unit manager or nursing administration; Obtaining necessary items and resources needed to care for patients such as sitters, equipment, supplies, etc. Intervening, when necessary, to assure quality care is delivered and the safety of patients and staff is maintained.

Participates in designated PI activities, such as throughput, telemetry, APS, and Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, among others; Supports research projects done independently or collaboratively within the Division, to include survey distribution and collection, identification of research and PI questions, among others; Serves on various committees and task forces, which may include, but not be limited to: Code Blue, Patient Rights, Provision of Care, Rapid Response & Stroke.
