Position Overview

LOCATION: Far Southeast Suburbs, including Calumet City, Lynwood, Dolton, Glenwood, Lansing, Posen, South Holland, Thornton, Burnham, Riverdale

HOURS: Days; must be able to work one summer and one winter holiday, and rotate on an on-call schedule.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, payable when employed in this role at the time of payout. Internal team members are not eligible.

Major Responsibilities
  • Nurse/Patient Relationship: Develops and maintains therapeutic relationships, demonstrating adaptive communication, providing individualized care, and involving patients and families in planning.
  • Assuring/Improving Quality Care: Facilitates quality, cost-effective care, mobilizes resources, participates in quality initiatives, and ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Patient/Staff Education: Meets learning needs, utilizes resources, and promotes educational growth among staff.
  • Nursing Process: Uses nursing problem-solving, recognizes clinical changes, makes decisions, prioritizes care, and coordinates referrals and discharge planning.
  • Leadership/Collaboration/Professional Development: Demonstrates teamwork, leadership, ongoing education, and maintains required certifications.
Licensure & Education
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • 10+ hours of continuing education annually
  • Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, transport patients and equipment, and respond quickly to patient needs
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, with patient handling equipment used for heavier lifts
