Methodist Hospital Metropolitan in San Antonio, TX is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. The RN collaborates with providers and care teams to deliver individualized plans and advocate for patients and families.

Candidates must have an RN license with 6+ years of experience, ACLS, BCLS, ENPC, PALS, and TNCC certifications or equivalents, and ED experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course within 6 months of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of employment start date.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months of employment start date.
• RN must have 6 years minimum experience.
• Recent ED experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after interventions.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by the medical provider; document care in the medical record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to resolve them proactively.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures.
• Teach lifestyle changes, healthy diet, and disease prevention to patients and families.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medical follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:
