Job summary

ChristianaCare’s Heart Failure Unit in Newark, DE seeks a part-time RN to care for high‑acuity cardiac patients. The role covers 5E beds including post‑operative and LVAD populations, with exposure to chest tubes, central lines, and pacing wires. You will perform assessments, monitoring, med administration, and patient education.

Requirements include a BSN preferred and a commitment to obtain BSN within three years, plus at least one year of RN experience. BLS is required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with heart failure and post‑operative cardiac needs.

• Educate patients and families and detect early changes in patient condition.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Heart Failure UnitPart Time - Day/Midnight rotating (7A-7P & 7P-7A)Hours: 48 hours/payWeekends and holidays as required.Newark, DE

The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a 36‑bed specialized post-critical care complex cardiac unit providing high‑acuity care to patients with complex heart failure and post‑operative cardiac needs.

Within the unit, 12 beds are designated for post‑operative open‑heart surgery and LVAD patient population requiring advanced clinical expertise and specialized nursing competencies.

As a Registered Nurse on 5E, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients who may have chest tubes and surgical drains, large‑bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires.

RNs are responsible for advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in patient condition.

Education & Requirements:

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire required.
• At leastone year of experience as a Registered Nurse required
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware

Hourly Pay Range: $42.11 - $67.37This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
