Job summary

Mercy is seeking Registered Nurses for full-time day shifts at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO. You will provide patient care using the nursing process and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure quality outcomes.

A strong focus on patient rights and confidentiality under Mercy standards guides daily work. Qualifications include RN licensure in the state or compact, and Basic Life Support with department-specific certs.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current RN license in hiring state and/or compact licensure required.
• Basic Life Support certification or within 30 days of hire; other unit-specific certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information.
• Evaluate overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments.

Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse Resident Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO Department: 4E Neuro Status: Full-Time - 36 hours/week Shift: 12 Hour Days (7:00am - 7:30pm)

Qualifications

Required Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. Other unit specific certifications as required within department-required timeframe.

Other: Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
